#1. This is a photo I took in the early 2000's of Fernald's Marine. I haven't driven past there lately, but I hope the proprietors know what a gem of a building they own. It's such a shame to watch unofficial landmarks lose their charm with soulless, modern improvements. I was desperately sad on the day they replaced our wooden swim dock with a white plastic one. And on the day they replaced the large, wooden ice cream cone above Shibley's with a rectangular fluorescent sign. What a loss!
#2. The Best Thing about summer: fresh produce! I'm pretty sure that nothing beats the thrill of preparing a meal from food that you've gathered (and perhaps grown) yourself. This photo is of my father's parents when they were dating. Notice my grandmother's choice of footwear: I definitely inherited her affinity for high heels!
