So, exciting news: I'm starting the Fashion and Textiles program at FIT this August! After some consideration, I discovered it would be best to transfer to the New York office of my present company and enroll as a part-time student.
Meanwhile, since the transfer hasn't received final approvals, and my request for a salary increase was denied, I am starting to apply for jobs in the area. Today's effort? A flurry of submissions to J. Crew, my favorite purveyor of colorful cardigans and playful, vintage prints.
The most comforting news is that I've already found a place to live!
I spent last weekend in Brooklyn, scouting out cute-but-cheap studio apartments. Thankfully, after only a day of searching, I found a favorite and am hoping to sign the lease tomorrow. Of course, I'm spending more than I hoped, but I watch "House Hunters," so I was prepared to increase my budget during the search.
A few equalities about Brooklyn, my new home:
1. Ray-ban Wayfayers = Camouflage
So much for individuality. But I will press on, and I will continue to wear them when they are no longer trendy.
2. Empire Mayonnaise = Delicious
A tiny gourmet mayonnaise store, surrounded by hipster bicycles.

3. Pre-war apartment = Fireplace
...but don't expect it to work. I am crossing my fingers about my new studio; it has two!
4. Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir = Powerful
...proving you don't need an organ to have pipes. (Har.)
5. Prospect Park = Charming
I'm so glad to have a public park nearby. A public park with a flea market? Even better!
