I've blogged about stamps before. It's because my grandfather collected them. It's because I collected them. It's because, well, I like 'em.
Over the past six months, I have carefully used the stamps I brought with me to Brooklyn. As I used the last few this evening, I felt sad to think that I would have to find a new stamp design for all my friends, including those at the credit card company and student loan office, who faithfully await my monthly correspondence while anxiously holding a PAST DUE stamp above their empty desks.
Tonight, I used my last stamp with an image of Edward Hopper's The Long Leg, 1935:
And my last stamps from the Pioneers of American Industrial Design collection:
This sheet included interesting facts about each of the designers, including Eliot Noyes, who designed the "Selectric" typewriter for IBM in 1961...
...and the Dave Chapman's contemporary sewing machine design, first exhibited at the American Society of Industrial Designers in 1947.
So, what's planned for this year at the Post Office?
Check out the latest designs here.
