A Glimmer of Hope...

...or a blinding flash of expectation!

Happy New Year!

I'm sure that you are aware the SEQUINS are a huge trend from S/S 2010, but I'd thought I'd mention a couple of my favorite looks from the trend feature I found on style.com yesterday.

Here's a turquoise blouse from Tory Burch:

I love this because it's so versatile. Pair it with jeans, dress it up with a skirt. Pair it with a cardigan and a pair of pants from the Comme de Garcons S/S 2010 line.

The top is also incredibly flattering. I love wide, scooped necklines and how they display a woman's collar bone. I love the sleeves, which lengthen and thin the arms, and I love how the fit is loose, but still feminine.

I picked this look from Proenza Schouler, because it can translate well into high street fashion.

This look is accessible, fun and has probably inspired a great range of knockoffs for the coming season.

I love the bold, deep colors in this outfit, but I am really taken with the sequin fringe. This idea could work well on all sorts of sequin designs, and I'm sure that we will see a variety of tops and dresses in this style.

Here's the most inventive variation of the trend:

I love this. While most of the designers choose to encase barely-there dresses and power-blazers in layers of sequins, Richard Chai chose to design a pair of shorts made from gauzy layers with a smattering of metallics.

The design is exciting, a great fresh take on the dress shorts that are so popular at the moment.

Lastly, my favorite look:

What can I say about this? Perfection! The fitted sequin blazer is feminine, yet tailored, and the twisted satin skirt has an edgy yet upscale look. Both of these pieces would easily complement any wardrobe. Metallics pair well with anything, and any look would benefit from the classic lines of these designs.

 Well done, Burberry, well done.
